Aren't you curious that I have not really been blogging about food that we eat outside? Cos when I do it, I can't stop! But these are simply too good to be missed. And most interesting, they are out of the major town! Isn't it sad for short travellers like you? :)
Be sure not to miss Hampden specialties - the giant ice cream in the Fine Fare supermarket and blue cod from Lockies Fish & Chips Takeaway.
The 3 giant balls of ice cream are self explanatory - look at the pict below for a mere price of $3.50! Truck drivers, locals driving or walking by, will definitely stop over for a scoop of ice cream at least! Still not impressed? Try their local favorite flavor, orange chocolate chips. It's been rumored to blow your feet away!
Of our 3 months plus here, fish & chips is often the last choice unless locals' recommendation or when we feel lazy. So it's about 5-10 times that we tried fish and chips. Be prepared for the crispy battered blue cod as it is now our number 1 choice (for takeaways). The only one better is the one in Stewart Island, but that's in another league - a restaurant.
So next time you passed by Hampden, don't forget to enjoy the wonders in Hampden.
$3.50?? $20 SGD gelato, also not so big...
ReplyDeleteAnd now you're a fish & chip expert...
