11th June @ Hooker Valley, Lake and Glacier

It was a freezing night the day before but we woke up real late. We had our breakfast at 11am and made our way to Hooker Valley. It was a 3 hours return hike.

Koh Leng Leng blamed me for faking her on the walk, since I kept on saying just one more turn and we will turn back. Frankly, how would I want to give up since we had already started? It's the same as when I was in Guangzhou, I persevered right till the end despite promising her I would take only 30 mins solo walk. In the end I spent 2 hours.

We didn't know which is Mount Cook, and kept on guessing. It was funny - we didn't know what to look out for.

It was a tiring hike but we went passed 2 bridges before completing the valley towards to the lake and the glacier. It was there where we first saw Marcus and Cas, English couple whom we asked whether we are reaching soon. They said 5 mins, but as Asian legs are shorter, we spent 15mins. It was a magnificent view since we had never seen one before.

We took about 4 hours return to our base camp and had a wonderful coke break. :)

    1. The Tasman Glacier ones are even better. They are so near that if I jump I might be able to reach it!

Too bad I live with regrets not able to step and jump on them. Perhaps I can do it in FraNz Josef Glacier!
