13th June @ Lake Ohau

It was a wonderful night chatting with our traveler brethren and we decided to take it slow today. All had their plans, where Peter and Caroline had to leave for Christchurch, Marcus and Cas going mount John and returning, and Darren going to Hooker Alley for some glacier shots. For us, we decided to do just Lake Ohau, the third biggest glacier lake in South Island.

We took a shot for remembrance on Darren's camera and my iphone and bade everyone good bye. Who knows when we will meet again, but the friendship forged will stay forever.

It was not a very near journey as we soon realized we had to do a big detour to the usual tourist viewpoint.

On our way, we saw a plane hovering to spray something down. It was so near to the ground that it was about 100m in front of my wind screen. We thought that it might be spraying chemicals or something along that line onto its crop below.

We reached and it was nothing compared to Lake Tekapo or Lake Pukaki, which are the 2 ingest glacier lake before Lake Ohau. However we took some interesting shots below.

We ended out Lake Ohau tour after circling the Alpine Village. It is indeed a very nice place to retire in, with the sun, the lake, and mount cook as backdrop to your personal garden view.
